My latest poem, inspired by the essence of the Divine Universe.....

 I Am, Life
       ©  2018  Sy’needa Penland

            Fertile seed of my essence,
          I give birth to you—
          Divine Life, of my halves;

          Masculine is my protection,
          Feminine is my yolk—
          Conjoined, in perfect union
          as one, fertile seed.

          Each cycle I bleed,
          to nourish my fertile womb—
In harvest, you lay, until conception.

          The perfect union,
I bring to life, to live as one
          Upon my fruitful earth.

          Upon birth of my seedlings,
          I introduce you to
the Spirit of my Divine Universe.

          GOD, as I Am called.
          For I Am, all things,
 I Am, Life

***STATEMENT*** Former Head of Marines Sexual Assault and Prevention Unit and Protect Our Defenders CEO Col Scott Jensen Responds to White House Chief of Staff Defense of Domestic Abusers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 9, 2018

Former Head of Marines Sexual Assault and Prevention Unit and Protect Our Defenders CEO Col Scott Jensen Responds to White House Chief of Staff Defense of Domestic Abuser
Washington, D.C. — As revelations have come to light about White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s troubling tendency to vouch for the character of subordinates suspected of committing serious misconduct, like Mr. Porter, it is important to remember Mr Kelly’s appalling conduct is consistent with far too many senior military leaders who choose to side with abusers.
Today, the former Head of Marines Sexual Assault and Prevention Unit and Protect Our Defenders CEO Col Scott Jensen responded to Mr. Kelly’s support of those that commit serious misconduct:
“In 2016, Mr Kelly was one of four generals to testify for disgraced Marine Colonel Todd Shane Tomko. Despite Tomko having been convicted of a laundry list of offenses including illegal use of steroids, unprofessional relationships, violating a military protective order and driving drunk to his own arraignment, Kelly described Tomko as an ‘upstanding Marine’ and a great leader. If Kelly’s assessment was not troubling enough when he made them, Tomko is now being prosecuted for sexual abuse of children dating back to 2003. Upstanding Marine indeed.
“Time and again, senior officers chose to side with abusers rather than victims. Just yesterday, the military’s highest court reviewed the case of an Army major who was convicted of beating his three year old step son so severely with a belt that it left welts and bruising and required medical treatment at an emergency room. Despite his being a convicted child abuser, five senior officers including two retired major generals testified about the abuser’s ‘excellent duty performance’ and ‘high rehabilitative potential.’
“At its heart the military justice system is fundamentally flawed by the inherently biased relationship of the commander to the parties involved. This precludes the possibility of blind justice – a fundamental principle of our democracy – even the best commanders’ judgments will be clouded by their opinions regarding the people who work for them. This bias is more insidious when such decisions are influence by entrenched racial and gender prejudices. And, the lack of transparency shields commanders from accountability. What we see playing out with Kelly is a military justice system mindset. Porter was a valued employee. Therefore, in their minds, the problem is not Porter or Tomko but rather the victims who have come forward.”

Instead of prosecuting the XO for indecent behavior, the CO covers it up!! Typical of the Good Old Boys club!!

Military Corruption.com reports,
NAVY EXECUTIVE OFFICER FOUND NAKED
AND DRUNK STUMBLING AROUND IN WOODS
ON OKINAWA - LT CMDR JASON GRABBARD
FIRED ALONG WITH COMMANDING OFFICER
AND CMC OF CONSTRUCTION GROUP ONE
CMDR JAMES CHO AND COMMAND MASTER
CHIEF JASON HOLDEN ALSO GET THE BOOT
FOR  TRYING TO COVER UP THE INCIDENT

We don't know for sure if it was booze or drugs that caused a Navy executive officer to self-destruct his career on Okinawa, but we do know this - he found a unique way to end his Naval service.

LT CMDR Jason Grabbard was found staggering around in his birthday suit, except for a pair of boots, in woods near Camp Shields, Okinawa.  The zonked Navy officer had been XO of Naval Construction Group One.  How he ended up in the condition he was found in is not exactly clear.

But two other Navy personnel will long remember Grabbard's bizarre stunt. They have been fired and transferred to Naval Construction Group five at Port Hueneme, Calif. CMDR James Cho, the unit's boss, and Jason Holden, his command master chief, got the axe.

CAUGHT TRYING TO CONCEAL

Sources tell us that the commanding officer and his number one enlisted member tried to conceal and cover-up the embarrassing incident, but news of the hi-jinks reached the brass and the word came down to severely punish those involved.

It's likely Cho will remain in the Navy, but his hopes of being a four-striper are gone.  As for CMC Holden, he has more then enough time in to retire with a full pension should he choose to do so.

Navy Commodore Mike Saum made the decision to pull the trigger on all three top leaders of the construction group.  CAPT Nick Yamodis, who used to be the operations officer for the outfit, has taken over as commanding officer until a  permanent replacement for Cho can be assigned.

My latest poetry piece... Inspired by the Spirit of Love....

I Love You
©  2018  Sy’needa Penland

I shall paint a portrait of love
across my Earthly sky—
A reflection of my inner soul.

Like a soothing lullaby,
each day you see it,
it will begin to resonate
with your Spirit.

Imagine hearing the words,
I Love You…

Each time you gaze upon
my portrait—
I Love You,
echoes to your heart’s center.

And will soon become
a mirrored reflection
 of your soul.
I Love You!

Narcissism, to say the least, as President Trump, reportedly seeks military parade in model of France’s Bastille Day celebration, prompting one veterans’ group to call him 'a wannabe banana republic strongman.'

The Guardian reports, Donald Trump, has ordered the Pentagon to plan a military parade that would see soldiers marching and tanks rolling down the streets of Washington, it was reported on Tuesday.

The move was instantly criticised, with one veterans’ group comparing the president to “a wannabe banana republic strongman”.

Trump is seeking a grand parade similar to the Bastille Day celebration in Paris, according to the Washington Post. He outlined the plan at a meeting at the Pentagon on 18 January that included defense secretary Jim Mattis and joint chiefs of staff chairman General Joseph Dunford, the paper said, citing an unnamed military official.

“The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France," the official told the Post. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.”

The White House confirmed that an event is in the works, though it did not offer further details. “President Trump is incredibly supportive of America’s great service members who risk their lives every day to keep our country safe,” press secretary Sarah Sanders said. “He has asked the Department of Defense to explore a celebration at which all Americans can show their appreciation.”

When life knocks at the door,
No one can wait.
When death makes his arrest,
We have to go

A half-century has passed since the start of the 1968 Communist Tet Offensive in Vietnam.  While many bad things that happened over these past 50 years have mercifully faded into the mists of time, there are some moments of sheer terror, of life-and-death situations staring you in the face, that you can still smell the cordite and feel your heart beating like a trip-hammer like it did that January 30 so long ago.

SP4 Marc Lofaro was a friend and combat photographer with the 54th Signal Bn. in Nha Trang.  We shared the same birthday.  He was from the Bronx, New York while I hailed from the coast of Maine.  Both of us dreamed of being civilian war correspondents someday.  I got to see that wish come true.  He was sent home in a metal casket.

Street fighting is as dangerous as it comes.  I can't recall now just where Marc was killed, but I think it might have been near a VC-occupied villa on Phan Nam Street, behind Roberts Compound.  It was a sniper that got him, a slug from an AK-47 struck him in the head, his body crumpled, and he was dead before he hit the ground.

DON HIRST REMEMBERS

His death rocked not only me - why did the bullet hit him?  Why did he die, while I and others survived?  Lofaro's close buddy, another Army combat correspondent, Don Hirst, was in Saigon when the VC attacked and tried to overrun the American Embassy.

Don's memorable photos of two MP's leading away a captured Viet Cong sapper, his arms high in the air in surrender, has been reproduced many times - in magazines and on the cover of books about the war.  Hirst told me he might have taken Marc's place in Nha Trang that day, had he not been in Saigon on TDY.  Even after all these years, fellow cancer-survivor (Agent Orange) Don Hirst chokes up when he talks about his friend of long ago.

Those of us who lost friends and colleagues in the war (see related stories below) know the aching pain you feel when - transported back in time - you recall the death of a fellow "bao chi" who has left this life forever.  Like the late George Esper (AP) and Paul Vogle (UPI), Don was and is one of the most beloved of our dwindling "band of brothers."  Like the last leaves on an old withered tree, destined to fall to the ground and die - Hirst has bravely battled cancer to a draw.  Our prayers are with you as you read these words, dear friend.

SMALLWOOD GETS A PROMOTION

The poet John Masefield wrote the lines at the top of this sad remembrance. Sooner or later we all must walk into that lonesome valley and prepare to meet our maker.  For that reason and others, I want to make it official that former Navy pilot and journalist extraordinaire David Smallwood has been promoted to "Our hearts and thoughts go out in remembrance of our co-founder,'the late GEN Peter E. Genovese Jr., who shared the dream and helped make possible MilitaryCorruption.com "fighting for the truth and exposing the corrupt."  Look down, sir, from heaven above, and see your former aide rendering a heartfelt salute.

Some years ago, a dear lady named Teresa Masaniai, (now deceased) sent me an e-mail about the man who now assumes command of MCC.  She wrote: "David would be an excellent successor to you at MilitaryCorruption.com.  He's a wonderful man, an excellent speaker, with the drive and will to be worthy of your trust . . . if anything were to happen to you, David is best-equipped to carry on in your place."

We hope you, dear reader, agree.

[EDITOR'S NOTE: -- MAJ MacDonald served in Vietnam (1966-1969) and was an Army combat correspondent and NCO prior to a long career with ABC RADIO NEWS, The Associated Press, The New York POST, and finally, as a United Press International correspondent.  He enlisted in 1966, volunteered for Vietnam, and was honorably retired as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve 33 years later.]

Food for thought:
Prayers for all our brave Warriors, around the world.  Let not the traumas of  war be your death sentence, but your patriotic service to humanity.

Let not War be for Greed, Power or Control.
