Wow, I didn’t see this one coming. Trump making a “Command” decision to “ban” transgender citizens from serving in the Armed Forces; at a time when top Pentagon officials have yet to uphold Human and Civil Rights protection of our military personnel; against, racial-gender inequality, sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, retaliation, bullying, abuse of authority… the list goes on!!
Earlier yesterday, Trump tweeted, "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming ... victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”
As a victim of racial-gender inequality during the nearly 20 years I served on active duty, as a prior enlisted and officer, after experiencing an egregious violation of my Human and Civil Rights, I was later forced to file a Civil Action lawsuit against the Navy’s Secretary, highlighting the Civil-Human Rights abuse I endured as a military “whistleblower.”
Over a decade later, the Navy continues its retaliatory acts against me, as its Board for Correction of Naval Records (BCNR) stalls their final decision on my application for clemency.
And you wonder why members of the legal community are assisting Veterans in preparing one of the largest Class Action lawsuits of our times!!
As an Advocate for Human Rights and Civil Rights protection, especially for personnel serving in our Armed Forces, I think General Mattis made a wise decision, to postpone the military’s “transgender” policy, to allow the Pentagon ample time to iron-out the details, to include them in larger numbers.
In the military, it’s a numbers game, based on quotas and proportion.
We are facing difficult times in our country, in both our society and political arena and to use (abuse) our military to usher in a social-political agenda will only increase the causalities in the long run; thus creating more animosity amongst the ranks!!
There are far too many cases of rape and sexual assault that the Pentagon has yet to properly deal with; by implementing “enforceable” protective laws to prosecute military sexual predators, while preserving the careers of the unit commanders, will ensure both Civil and Human Rights protection of members of the transgender community; as they serve as an underrepresented minority within the ranks of our military.
As minority members of a “protected class,” hundreds and thousands of veterans “victims” have provided ample -- written and public testimony, to members of the Senate (and Veterans Affairs) to warrant a Human Rights Bill, to better protect our service members from being harmed by their colleagues, as our military evolves into a better fighting force, which is what President Trump and our military leaders all agree on. It is time to call a truce on Capitol Hill and Make America Great Again, which is to fully support EQUALITY within our Defense Department!!
