A Prayer for Cleansing

A Prayer for Cleansing
©  2015  Sy’needa Penland

Oh Great Spirit above
Whose heart thine eyes does not see,
Open our hearts and souls
To welcome your ecstasy.

Rain down the Spirit of Love
From the vast heavens above,
Fill our earthly vessels
With your Great Spirit of Love.

Let not hate exist within
Forgive us ALL for our sins
Cleanse thy earth thus once again;

May the mountains rise
Above my tides,
May your hearts be pure
Thus forever more,
Peace and Love
I will restore.
May your souls be blessed
You have passed the test,
May your souls be cleansed
But DO NOT SIN AGAIN!

Syneeda you are either naive to the ways of mankind or you have solved the riddle of life. In your poem, “What is Truth?” you were definitely onto something as well as with this one. The problem with humanity is that mankind refuses to recognize that he must give up part of himself in order to save his own soul, ultimately salvaging humanity.

Every material thing we see around us was built by mankind and there is no stopping his self-destructive nature, unless the Great Spirit intervenes.

Being part Native American I'm sure you are familiar with the Cherokee proverb of the two wolves, the duality of man’s nature. One is Evil, representing “Anger, greed, ego, arrogance, self-pity, sorrow, envy, jealousy, guilt, regret, inferiority, lies, resentment, false pride, superiority and hate. The other is Good natured, representing, peace, love, joy, understanding, compassion, serenity, hope, humility, kindness, generosity, benevolence, empathy, truth, faith and healing. Whichever side he feeds is what he will ultimately become.

The problem with humanity is that it loves to stroke the ego of mankind, therefore not allowing him to choose aside, it’s chosen for him because of his competitive nature. Goodness does not have to compete. The only Spirit that can save mankind from his self-destructive nature is his own.
