37 Years in the Navy, A Supreme Allied Commander retires, and looks back on his time spent in three uniforms.

Earlier today the atlantic.com reported the retirement of, in my view, one of the finest Admirals that has every served our country, Admiral James Stavridis.  Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Admiral Stavridis, like on the occasion I met the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen several years ago, my respect for Admiral Stavridis, compared to other Admirals, is immeasurable!

Below is a speech he gave last year when he addressed "building bridges", vice going to war.

There's valuable lessons to be learned from his vast warfare knowledge, his personal beliefs and the many decades he's been committed to serving our country!

Sir, "Farewell and following seas", and thank you for a job well done!
