Self
– Reflection

Staring
back at me, at times
with
a twinkle in my eye.
Able
to reveal what I’m thinking
whether
it’s the truth or a lie.
Able
to detect the joy
or
the sadness that I feel,
looking
beyond a painted illusion
exposing
what is real.
A
lonely spirit whose soul is lost
becomes
vulnerable to human needs.
Man’s
desire to feed upon the flesh
by
destroying faith and planting seeds.
You
can’t hide from what you see before you,
a
painted illusion, an art of perfection.
The
eyes are a pathway to your soul
and
so is the mirror of
Self - Reflection.

I like this particular poem because it speaks truth in any given situation. I wish more people would first be honest with themselves, their faith and stop buying into the same old bullshit, "I want to go along with the masses, just to be accepted. But like you stated Syneeda, "Man's desire to feed upon the flesh by destroying faith and planting seeds", this statement is so true around the world! Keep sharing your work, you are definitely a talented poet and an inspiration. I look forward to reading your blog everyday just to what you're going to say next. What a waste that you hide this talent while you were in the military.
ReplyDeleteAnon, Thanks, I'm delighted to share my poetry and yes it was difficult for me to be expressive while I was in the military. With all the stress and adversity I encountered during my 20 years of service, writing poetry always provided me therapeutic relief.
