This is truly appauling, one of America's prestigous univerisites is still practicing Jim Crow in the 21st century.
Anon, Unfortunately, UCLA is not the only institution/organization who ignores "whistle blower" complaints regarding unfair treatment, sex-race discrimination and unlawful workplace abuse.
Wow!!! as sad as it is to hear about Dr. Heads suffering I am not surprised. His story is similar to so many African American stories throughout the medical community. To think that in the year 2012 we have digressed so much as a society that this group of supposed “cream of the crop professionals” have no fear and are so willing to openly discriminate that they would humiliate their colleague, dehumanize him, and depict him as an animal on screen to his fellow colleagues at a meeting as if he were the latest King Kong and his boss was the new King Henry the Eighth (or better yet an animal rapist). As a military officer and medical professional I too have experienced discrimination and just as in the case of Dr. Head when I spoke up I suffered. Suffering which continues to this very day, more than two years later. The more you speak up the worse it becomes and the larger the number of senior naval officers who are willing to “line up” to reprise against you grows. It is disgusting that as African Americans we are still hated because of our skin color. This hatred is not only depicted in the medical community it is spewed throughout the news casts (especially on Fox). It transcends the ability to respect us for who we are “HUMAN BEINGS and AMERICAN CITIZENS” It is not a mistake that as we prepare for the upcoming election African American men are being depicted as cannibalistic Zombies who are reportedly eating the hearts, faces and brains of their victim. Please note how initially the words of hatred were so readily spoken by Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich and other republican party members and supporters and now they have silenced themselves and allowed the hate mongers which they have stirred up continue their dirty deeds. How sick of a society have we become that we are reverting back to near slavery days of hate for a people who have done nothing more than to have been born AFRICAN AMERICAN. History unlearned is destined to repeat itself. At some point I pray that one day there will be the realization that ALL men (and women of course) are DESERVING of equality. Equality, which isn’t based on the skin color, nationality, sex, religion, or sexual orientation; I can only pray that people will begin to look past their biases and see that deep down inside we all have something to contribute and that contribution has nothing to do with the excuses of biased reasons which truthfully only support prejudice and is instead based on the talents which we have been given by God to share with the world. Otherwise, we are all doomed.
Annon, I totally agree!!!
